- Completed master’s degree (or close to graduation*) in a social science field such as economics or political science, or similar, with a strong focus and interest in statistical methods
- Advanced understanding of causal inference methods (e.g., randomized experiments, difference-in-differences, and instrumental variables). Basic knowledge of machine learning is an advantage
- Excellent programming skills in R (Stata and/or Python are of advantage)
- LaTeX and Git skills are a plus
- Proficiency and experience in data cleaning and management
- Fluency in English, oral and written
- Interest in pursuing a PhD

Junior Quantitative Analyst in Immigration Research

The Immigration Policy Lab is looking for a Pre-doctoral Researcher in Quantitative Social Science. The contract will be limited between 12 to 18 months fixed term and will start by February 1st or upon agreement.
Project background
Our lab evaluates policies and designs scalable solutions that aim to improve the lives of immigrants and strengthen host communities. You will work on two quantitative research projects that contribute to this mission. The first uses large-scale Swiss administrative data sources at a high spatial resolution to study how network effects between native citizens and immigrants shape relocation decisions, labour market outcomes, and citizenship acquisition. The second project builds on a custom-designed online job platform to study how best to facilitate job search and labour market integration of refugees in Switzerland.

Your primary responsibility will be to support data analysis using causal inference methods and machine learning. Your tasks range from data cleaning and descriptive analysis to implementing advanced econometric methods for panel and cross-sectional data.
